How To Save Money and Earn Money For Your Club
Most of us realise the importance of correct nutrition and a balanced diet for a healthy lifestyle. We also appreciate the role that sports drinks can play in ensuring an athlete has sufficient energy reserves to train and compete regularly and also to recover properly. These drinks have become big business in recent years and the convenience of having them in vending machines at the pool has helped in their popularity, but why pay for all that packaging/water.
The club has teamed up with a leading sports drinks company, ALLSPORTS, whereby we sell their products direct to our members and earn a commission for the club. The price will work out at about a third of what you will pay for a bottle of drink from the machine.
Please Shower Before You Swim
We have been asking swimmers to shower before entering the pool. Studies clearly show that pre-swim showering removes significant amounts of dirt and bacteria that would otherwise end up in the pool. It's not nice to think about, but up to two-thirds of the sweat products and one third of the bacteria on our bodies are removed by showering. Showering will also remove pollutants such as mucus, dead skin, dirt and products such as hairspray, body soap, lotions, oils, deodorant and ointments. Without a shower, these pollutants end up in the pool water.Pollutants from our bodies can transmit biological organisms such as bacteria and viruses into the pool and can quickly use up the pool disinfectant. Pollutants combine with the chlorine in the pool water to become chloramines in the water and air. Chloramines are a much poorer disinfectant than chlorine. The production of chloramines can result in an inadequately disinfected swimming pool. Swimming pools, which are not properly disinfected, have been proven to serve as vehicles for the transmission of human disease. We'd also like all members to wear a hat to minimise polutants, to help the fit of goggles and to aid streamlining!
Shoe Covers
Please also ensure that shoe covers are worn on poolside at all times .
